Hi, The Question was whether Skype accounts can be made to work in Messages. The answer to that is No. I removed Skype from my computers several years ago (before the Microsoft purchase) as Little Snitch showed the app made many more connections across the world and not just to a Login Server and a Buddy (An AIM Login makes for server connections to get Buddy List, Buddy Pics, Status and well.

  1. As of today July 11, 2017, can no longer sign into Skype using v6.15 on Mac OS X 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard). Says '.because you're using an outdated version.' Yet I was able to sign in back in late May 2017 (the last time I tried).
  2. Skype for Mac 6.14 was originally released in February, with Skype for Mac 6.18 being the most recent release. Skype For Old Mac OS X Snow Leopard. The application requires Mac OS X Snow Leopard and above in addition to a compatible webcam. A simple contact list on the right of my screen, for starting quick conversations and calls.

To install Snow Leopard for the first time, you must have a Mac with: An Intel processor An internal or external DVD drive, or DVD or CD Sharing At least 1 GB of RAM (additional RAM is recommended) A built-in display or a display connected to an Apple-supplied video card supported by your computer At least 5 GB of disk space available, or 7 GB.

Please be advised that ITS will not provide support for applications such as iLife and iTunes. ITS can guide users through basic setup and use of these applications as well as recommend other resources for a more in-depth guide or 'how-to.' In addition, users will need the operating system media (i.e. installation DVD) to install applications such as Quicktime version 7.
