Aug 14, 2018 Thank you for helping so many people on the adobe forums. I keep receiving a strange message (see attached screenshot)every time I try and open my project. I am adding a screenshot. We have spent hours on this project and would appreciate any guidance. You definitely seem like a hero on the forums. Thank you in advance for any and all help. Oct 14, 2016 The project manager in Premiere Pro cc is a super useful tool that allows you to gather all your assets for archiving or sharing a project with other editors. It has some really cool options.
When you render a preview file or export for final output, Adobe Premiere Pro returns the following error message Error compiling movie. The text that follows the error message gives you additional detail about the type of error.

Use the filters below to quickly jump to your error and to resolve your issue.
Media cache issues
Most issues related to Error Compiling Movie errors are related to Media Cache and Media Cache Database which holds .CFA and .PEK files generated by Premiere Pro while importing a clip(s) for the first time in the Project bin. This issue might be related to any Audio/Video effects applied to clip(s) in a sequence(s).
Try these solutions:
Render the timeline
Mark In and Out points on the timeline for the portion that needs to be rendered and go to Sequence > Render In to Out to render the timeline. While exporting, make sure that Use Previews is selected.
Delete the media cache
Try deleting the cache files from Media Cache and Media Cache Database folders. For more information, see How do I manage the Media Cache in Premiere Pro?
Deselect the Hardware Encode/Decode option

If the export is in H.264 or HEVC format, then try deselecting the Enable hardware accelerated encoding and decoding (requires restart) option in Edit > Preferences > Media (Win) or Premiere Pro > Preferences > Media Sea elves. on macOS.
Change the Renderer option for Mercury Playback Engine
Go to File > Project Settings > General > Renderer to Mercury Playback Engine Software Only mode. Delete the Preview files when prompted.
Remove audio or video effects applied in a sequence
See Remove Audio/Video effects, third party plugins used in Premiere Pro or try exporting XML from Premiere Pro and then Re-import in Premiere Pro.
Make room on the hard disk that you're exporting to or choose a hard disk with adequate space. For more information, see How do I manage the Media Cache in Premiere Pro?
Make sure the hard disk has adequate room and you have permission to write to the specified output location. (See How do I manage the Media Cache in Premiere Pro? for more information on freeing up hard disk space by clearing out cached media files.)
Unknown errors
The specific cause of the error is unknown by Adobe Premiere Pro and you will need to figure out if a specific output format, or clip is the source of the issue.
To eliminate the specific output format as the cause of the problem, render and export to a different output format and codec. For example, use an uncompressed AVI file, a QuickTime movie using the Animation codec, or a sequence of PNG image files. (See File formats supported for export for more information.)

If the problem persists, remove one clip at a time from the sequence. Try to render and export after each removal to determine if a specific input clip is the source of the problem.
If you identify a specific clip as problematic, remove all effects from that clip to determine whether the problem persists without the effects. In some cases, the underlying cause of the error is that an input source file is corrupt or poorly formed. The only solution is to find an alternate source for the clip.

Inner Circle | Re: Premiere CS5 an unknown error occurred while opening project Ooh, too bad about the autosave. It has autosaved my bacon many times. Turn it on and trust it. It will never hurt your ability to undo an edit. This probably isn't it but it is possible you have a corrupt media cache database or rendered file somewhere. Try this: Open your new project and go to Project Settings. In one of the windows will be settings pertaining to media cache and media cache database locations. Change the locations (they shouldn't be on your C: drive anyway, which is where they default to. Premiere should ask you whether you want to move them or delete them. Choose delete. If this doesn't help, try going to the folder where you have your corrupt project located and try deleting the sub-folder where you have your rendered files located. This will force it to re-render all the rendered files. When you try to open the project it will ask where a bunch of rendered files are; tell it to skip all. This might work. Also, try holding down the SHIFT key when you start Premiere until it asks you which project you want to open; this forces it to re-register all the plug-ins. __________________ 'It can only be attributable to human error..
